The Story:

Inspired by the misty mornings in the forests of northern Idaho, this mug celebrates the mysterious beauty of fog-shrouded trees. Each piece is individually wheel-thrown in our studio, with tree silhouettes created using a specialized resist technique during glazing. The resist protects areas of the black clay, which are revealed as striking silhouettes when the gray glaze is applied—a forest scene on the front and a solitary tree on the back, representing the transition from dense woods to open clearings. The gray glaze is applied generously and allowed to flow and drip during firing, creating dramatic, organic patterns that evoke mist cascading through the branches. No two mugs are alike—the glaze creates its own unique story with every firing.
